John Wick is the new box-office king, with the third instalment of the action franchise ending the three-week reign of 'Avengers: Endgame' in North America.

According to reports, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum beat expectations with a debut of $57 million from 3,850 North American locations during the opening weekend.

That was enough to nab the box-office crown from Marvel's latest juggernaut that had collected $29.4 million during its fourth weekend of release.

Propelled by positive reviews, the third instalment nearly doubled the opening of the second film, which had itself doubled the opening of the 2014 original.
