Strong domestic spending is helping stimulate Dubai’s retail sector, according to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. It says consumer confidence remains strong, while attractive discounts and greater options are helping maintain a robust footfall at shopping outlets. The success of several big-ticket annual events like the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) has also prompted the authority to launch new platforms linking consumers with high-end retailers. Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director at the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment says these initiatives are major contributors to the local economy.
