Idris Elba to receive special Bafta award

Actor Idris Elba will be honoured with a special award at this year's Bafta ceremony.

The London-born star is being recognised for his creative contribution to television and for using his influence to push for further diversity in the cinema industry.

The Luther star will receive the honour at the virtual Bafta TV awards ceremony on July 31.

Elba described it as a "great privilege" and said it was his "mission" to give opportunities to emerging talent.
