A man in the USA has been charged with attempted murder after a child fell from the balcony of a shopping centre.

24-year-old Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda committed the crime Minnesota's Mall of America.

The five-year-old boy he allegedly pushed is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the incident was "isolated" and that the suspect was not known to the victim or his family.
