Two students have been killed and three more injured after their 19-year-old classmate opened fire at a Russian college on Thursday.

The attacker took his own life soon after the police arrived on the scene.

According to some media reports, the shooter likely used a shotgun in the middle of a lecture attended by 20 students.

The construction college in the town of Blagoveshchensk has been cordoned off as police carried out their investigation.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the attack.
