Andy Ruiz Jr sprung one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight championship history when he knocked out Anthony Joshua.
He spoiled Joshua’s US debut with a seventh-round technical knockout at Madison Square Garden, to claim the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.
"I got beaten by a good fighter," said Joshua. "It will be interesting to see how far he goes, but this is all part of the journey.
"He's a champion for now, I shall return."
An elated Ruiz said: "I just feel so good, man. This is what I have been dreaming about. This is what I have been working hard for. I can’t believe I just made my dreams come true."
