It was a disastrous return for MS Dhoni as captain of Chennai Super Kings, with his side suffering a crushing defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash.
CSK collapsed to their lowest-ever IPL total at home, managing just 103 for 9 in 20 overs. Dhoni, coming in at number 9, was dismissed for just 1 run.
Kolkata made light work of the chase, wrapping up victory in just 10.1 overs. Sunil Narine top-scored with 44 (18) and also starred with the ball, taking three wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana picked up two each.
The win lifts the Knight Riders to third in the ten-team table, while Chennai in ninth as pressure mounts on the former champions.
