Godolphin, founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will be heavily represented on Derby Day on Saturday, the opening day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. James McDonald, the stable’s retained and highly regarded jockey in Australia, will be on board no less than ten runners throughout the day, including the much-fancied Exosphere who is the favourite in the Coolmore Stud Stakes. The 23-year-old admits it’ll be a tough test, but is looking forward to the challenge on a day that many racing purists insist is the best race meeting of the entire year in Australia.
