Batting first, Pakistan amassed 348 for 8 with three batsman making half centuries.
Mohammad Hafeez top-scored with a stroke-filled 84.
England's run chase was bolstered by twin centuries from captain Joe Root and wicketkeeper Jos Butler.
However, they ended up falling 14 runs short, finishing their allotted 50 overs on 334 for 9.
