Stan Wawrinka won his ninth successive final as he defeated Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 7-6 (13) to clinch the 2016 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title. Second seed Wawrinka, who now hasn't lost a title match since 2013's-Hertogenbosch final against Nicolas Mahut, needed one hour and 54 minutes to see off a spirited Baghdatis in front of a packed Centre Court. Wawrinka secured the title after prevailing in a mammoth second set tie break which he eventually won 14-12 and in doing so claim a 13th ATP Tour title. It was his second tournament win of the year, following his third straight Chennai title in January, and his sixth straight victory over fellow 30-year-old Baghdatis. “It was a really tough final, it’s always a tough match against Marcos, I had to fight until the end. It was a crazy tiebreak. It was my best match of the week,” said Wawrinka on-court after his win.
