It’s day one of the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens that’s marking its 50th anniversary.
Over 100,000 fans are expected to descend on The Sevens Stadium over the next three days.
For the first time in the tournament’s history, all men’s and women’s matches will be played on the main pitch.
Samoa and Canada get things underway in the men’s competition today, while Spain and Ireland will lead the proceedings in the women’s round.
Plenty of entertainment activities have also been lined up with the highlight being the performance of international pop-singer Kylie Minogue on Friday.
