UAE lose to Thailand in World Cup qualifier

The UAE suffered a 2-1 defeat to Thailand in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Teerasil Dangda gave the home team the lead after 26 minutes and Ali Mabkhout equalised for the All Whites in the 45th minute.

Teenager Ekanit Panya scored early in the second half to steer the game in Thailand's favour.

It’s the UAE's first loss in the qualifying round and they have now slipped to third in Group G with six points.

After three games, Thailand head the pool with seven points and are ahead of second-placed Vietnam on goal difference.
