UAE Team ADQ’s Chiara Consonni wins second stage of Giro d'Italia Women

UAE Team ADQ's Chiara Consonni won the second stage of Giro d'Italia Women after a grueling 110 km race from Sirmione to Volta Mantovana on Monday.

In her sprint to the finish line, Consonni overtook world champion Lotte Kopecky of Team SD Worx –Protime. Chiara also wears the red jersey as leader in the Points Classification.

Following her victory, Consonni said, "Today my teammates did a fantastic job for me. I got on Lotte Kopecky's wheel in the finale, waited for her to launch the sprint and then took off and caught up. I knew I was OK; I had a good feeling and I'm happy that I managed to win again here at the Giro."

The third stage on Tuedsay is a 113 km race from Sabbioneta to Toano, with the first uphill finish.

At the Giro d'Italia, UAE Team ADQ is represented by seven riders: Alena Amialiusik, Chiara Consonni, Eleonora Gasparrini, Lizzie Holden, Erica Magnaldi, Silvia Persico, and Dominika Wlodarczyk. The team is guided by Sports Directors Cherie Pridham, Alejandro Gonzalez-Tablas, and Aida Nuño.
