Dubai Police have seized a minibus illegally transporting gas cylinders, sending a strong warning over the dangers of carrying hazardous materials without proper authorisation.

During a recent traffic patrol inspection in Al Quoz Industrial Area, officers discovered the minibus had been dangerously modified, with seats removed to make space for a large number of gas cylinders.

This posed a serious threat to road safety as any leak, accident or improper storage could have led to a fire or explosion.

Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, said that the vehicle was confiscated and the driver referred for legal action.

He added that transporting gas cylinders in unlicensed vehicles without proper signage is both illegal and extremely risky.

Dubai Police are stepping up surveillance and traffic campaigns to crack down on such violations.

Residents are also urged to report suspicious activity through the 'We Are All Police' service by calling 901 or using the Dubai Police app.
