His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, have toured the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.

The 35,000-square-metre museum, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, is the largest of its kind in the Middle East.

The tour included the museum’s dramatic atrium, where a world-first display of a herd of sauropod dinosaurs greets visitors, as well as its interactive galleries tracing 13.8 billion years of natural history, from the birth of the universe to life on Earth today.

The two leaders reviewed the museum’s education and sustainability features, designed to promote scientific thinking, biodiversity awareness and environmental responsibility.

Sheikh Khaled said the museum strengthens the UAE’s leadership in natural sciences and offers a rich learning environment for future generations.

Sheikh Hamdan added that it enhances the country’s position as a global destination for knowledge and innovation.

Set to open to the public on November 22, the museum will feature permanent galleries, laboratories, an interactive theatre and immersive exhibits.

It joins a growing cluster of major cultural institutions on Saadiyat Island, including Louvre Abu Dhabi and the soon-to-open Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
