Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum laid to rest

Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been laid to rest at Dubai's Umm Hurair Cemetery on Tuesday, following a funeral prayer attended by royals at Grand Zabeel Mosque.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and a number of royals were seen escorting the body to the cemetery.

Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and other royals attended the funeral prayer for the late Sheikh Ahmed at Grand Zabeel Mosque.

The funeral prayer was performed in the presence of senior officials and a large gathering of worshippers.

A 10-day official mourning has been announced across the emirate, with flags flown at half-mast.

Condolences will be received at the Za'abeel Majlis over three days, until Thursday.
