New UAE, Bahrain fast-track travel system takes off

WAM

The UAE has announced the launch of the pilot phase of the 'One-Point Air Travellers' project with Bahrain, aimed at making travel faster and more convenient for citizens of both countries.

The initiative allows Emirati and Bahraini passengers flying between the two nations to complete entry procedures at their departure airport, reducing waiting times on arrival and easing congestion.

The first phase covers Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain International Airport.

In the UAE, the project is being implemented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, while in Bahrain it is led by the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The system uses electronic connectivity, biometric checks, e‑gates and advanced passenger data processing to verify travellers before they land at their final destination.

Officials say the initiative is expected to boost tourism, trade and economic activity, while strengthening security and regional integration.
