Teams from Sharjah Civil Defence carried out a dramatic rescue mission to save a newborn who was trapped in an apartment fire in Al Nasserya.
Officials said the fire broke out during the early hours of Friday when residents were asleep.
Initial investigations revealed that the fire was triggered by a faulty a/c unit in a second-floor apartment, with the control room alerted about the incident at 1:35 am.
While the fire was confined to one part of the apartment, thick black smoke spread quickly, posing significant risk to its residents.
It's after the emergency crew evacuated the family from the apartment that they were informed about a newborn being inside.
Firefighters rushed back in, and battled low visibility due to the thick smoke to find the newborn and reunite her with her family.
Residents of other apartments were also evacuated, with firefighters dousing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to adjacent apartments.
Cooling procedures were carried out and safety inspections were conducted.
