Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Dubai Holding Community Management, has begun construction of two new pedestrian bridges on Palm Jumeirah as part of efforts to improve road safety and traffic flow.

The bridges will be located near Shoreline at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah and at Golden Mile beside the retail district.

Around 16,000 residents are expected to benefit from the project, which will provide safer and more convenient pedestrian crossings.

According to the RTA, the improvements are expected to reduce vehicle waiting times at nearby intersections by up to 50 per cent, shorten journey times and enhance connectivity between residential, commercial and tourism destinations across Palm Jumeirah.

The two bridges (each spanning 40 metres) will have a combined capacity of 2,700 pedestrians per hour and will be equipped with lifts to ensure accessibility for all users, including senior citizens and People of Determination.

The Shoreline bridge is scheduled for completion in June 2027, while the Golden Mile bridge is expected to be completed by October 2027.

The project forms part of a wider agreement signed between the RTA and Dubai Holding to enhance road infrastructure, improve access and implement traffic solutions across 15 areas and development projects affiliated with Dubai Holding, including Palm Jumeirah.
