Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a field campaign to check the readiness of air-conditioned bus shelters and passenger waiting facilities ahead of summer.
The network includes 895 shelters across 621 locations throughout Dubai, as the authority works to ensure the continued efficiency and operation of all air-conditioned waiting facilities, and to maintain high standards of public service.
The campaign involves inspections and proactive maintenance to confirm system readiness before the peak summer season.
Abdulrahman Al Janahi, Director of Buildings and Facilities at the RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, said that inspectors are conducting regular visits and addressing any technical issues immediately.
The RTA has also rolled out awareness campaigns across social media, along with on-site posters, encouraging the public to help preserve the cleanliness and upkeep of transport facilities.
Passengers are being urged to use official channels, including the Madinati service on the RTA app, to report any observations or suggestions, which are then handled by specialised teams.
The shelters themselves are designed to be environmentally friendly, with streamlined structures built to withstand heat and wind, while also featuring advertising space and supporting sustainability goals.
They are also compliant with Dubai’s Universal Design Code, with dedicated facilities for People of Determination, including wheelchair access and information screens displaying the city’s bus network.
