Sharjah unveils projects worth AED750 million for direct road links to Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced a series of projects worth AED750 million that will link internal and main roads between Sharjah and Dubai.

The projects include the addition of an underground tunnel with a dual carriageway under Al Taawun roundabout that will extend to Dubai's Al Nahda Bridge. It will reduce congestion at the roundabout, while allowing for direct connections to major roads, including Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road.

During a telephone interview with the Direct Line programme, Sharjah Ruler explained that they had to temporarily remove the Al Taawun Roundabout Monument during the road works. "The works affecting entry and exit from Al Taawun Street will require only a short period, while engineers simultaneously redesign and reinstall the monument in its original location."

He also revealed the development of the 'Al Noor Road', a new route that will extend from Al Orooba Street and lead into Dubai, scheduled to open by the end of the year.

The new projects aim to ease traffic movement on the road between the two Emirates and support a smooth journey for motorists.
