Several major shopping centres in the UAE have changed their operating hours.

Malls run by the Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) group have cut their timings and will now operate between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

In a statement to ARN News, the company said the reduced hours have been put in place to carry out further cleaning and sanitization of its properties.

However, the revised timings will not apply to Carrefour as well as pharmacies and clinics located within the malls.

Here's the full statement:

As of March 18, Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls across the region will begin operating between the hours of 12 pm and 8 pm only.

These reduced hours have been put in place to afford further cleaning and sanitization of our assets, ensuring a safer experience for our customers. The safety and wellbeing of our valued employees, retail partners, and customers remains our number one priority.

The reduced operating hours do not apply to Carrefour, pharmacies or clinics within our malls.
