The UAE and Saudi Arabia have agreed to explore stronger rail and energy links, with a new agreement aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation.
Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment and Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Riyadh.
The agremement seeks to develop rail connectivity between the two countries, facilitate the movement of goods and cargo, and enhance opportunities for infrastructure and energy-sector integration in support of shared economic interests.
It also covers cooperation in electricity interconnection, including the potential exchange and sale of electricity between the two countries.
The MoU includes technical, economic and environmental feasibility studies to assess interconnection opportunities, as well as coordination with other GCC states on expanding the Gulf electricity interconnection system.
