The UAE has extended distance learning across all higher education institutions until Friday, April 17, with exemptions for "priority programmes that require physical attendance".

In a statement sent to ARN News, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), in coordination with the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, added that in-person classes will be in line with the Ministry’s recent circular that outlines strict safety protocols.

The ministry also urged all institutions to monitor developments and coordinate with local authorities to ensure continuity, while maintaining learning quality and academic assessment standards.

It added that it will continue to monitor the situation and review weekly, with updates being announced through its official channels.

It comes a day after the UAE extended distance learning for all schools until Friday, April 17, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.

On March 29, the ministry, in a statement to ARN News, announced a phased return to on-campus learning for some academic programmes and examinations under strict safety guidelines.
