The UAE on Friday sent an aid plane containing 60 tonnes of medical supplies to Turkmenistan, bolstering the country’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
It's part of 90 tonnes allocated to assist approximately 90,000 medical professionals.
Commenting on the aid delivery, Abdul Aziz Al Hashemi, Charge D'Affaires at the UAE Embassy in Ashgabat, said, "Bilateral relations between the UAE and Turkmenistan have witnessed remarkable development, thanks to the continuous and keen support of the leadership in the two countries.
"The UAE hopes that medical assistance will contribute to enhance the capacity of medical and nursing staff in Turkmenistan by providing them with additional protection.
To date, the UAE has responded to the COVID-19 crisis by providing over 1,248 tonnes of aid to 92 countries in need, supporting more than one million medical professionals in the process.
The UAE has joined other Arab countries and major regional organisations in issuing a joint statement strongly condemning remarks by the US ambassador to Israel, suggesting it would be acceptable for Israel to exercise control over occupied Arab territories, including the West Bank.
The UAE and Belgium held the third round of political consultations in Abu Dhabi, exploring avenues to further expand non-oil trade, foster private sector partnerships and enhance investment in key sectors like energy and advanced tech.
The Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative has received a contribution of AED100 million from Erth Zayed Philanthropies following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister.
