By 2021 the UAE will generate a quarter of its electricity from clean energy. That’s according to the country’s climate action plan which was approved by the UAE Cabinet. The country’s economic diversification strategy and commitment to sustainable development is reflected in the plan. The plan is outlined under the UAE’s Intended Nationally Determined Contribution, which was submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change following the directions of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
