All teachers and staff in Umm Al Quwain's (UAQ) education sector will be tested for COVID-19 ahead of the new academic year.
According to the UAQ Medical District, 1,075 people from public and private schools will undergo medical examinations.
Officials clarified that this comes as part of the UAE's efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
Authorities also revealed that a plan will be approved next Monday to test students in grades 7 through 12 who are enrolled in both government and private schools located in the emirate.
This means more than 3,440 students will be tested for COVID-19.
