Voters in Cameroon were in for a shock when they spotted Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as one of the presidential candidates.
Images circulated on social media showed the electoral roll with an image of Salah against the name that matches the first letters of the “AZERTY” keyboard. His birthday, however, was registered seven years before the football star was actually born.
It has led to a lot of fun banter online, while some raising concern about the credibility of the country's electoral list.
Several media outlets have confirmed that Salah's image does indeed appear on the official site of Cameroon's election commission 'Elecam'.
There is no official comment from the authorities yet, but some media reports speculate it is a glitch in the system.
Meanwhile, Mo Salah is set to play against Manchester United on Sunday, October 19, evidently dismissing any plans of running for Cameroonian presidency.
