Dubai Police warn of house fires when using unlicensed gas cylinders

Dubai Police have warned residents against buying cooking gas cylinders from unlicensed companies over fire safety issues.

The Anti-Economic Crimes Department said illegal sellers don't follow safety standards while refilling cylinders, increasing the risk for "fires or explosions... especially with rising temperatures and poor storage conditions".

Officials said 300 unsafe gas cylinders were seized since the start of the year during inspections and added that violators will face legal action.

They said violations are being monitored and legal action taken against offenders.

The authority urged residents to buy from authorised entities and companies in the country, and report  illegal practices through the Dubai Police app or by dialling 901.
