UAE to spend AED 130 billion to diversify energy

The UAE wants to reduce its dependence on natural gas imports. That’s according to the energy minister, who’s announced a AED 130 billion investment to diversify the country's energy resources. His Excellency Suhail Al Mazroui says he aims to decrease the UAE’s dependence on natural gas from 100% now to 70% by 2021. The UAE also plans to boost its oil production capacity to 3.5 million barrels per day by 2017.
