The UAE has announced the withdrawal of another Nestlé infant milk product, the S26 AR GOLD, after recalling a host of baby formula over the presence of toxin-forming bacteria.

In a statement, the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) said the concerned batch numbers include "5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661".

The withdrawal was initiated after traces of the bacterium "Bacillus cereus" were detected in a production input.

This bacterium has the potential to produce the "cereulide" toxin, which may cause foodborne illness and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

All affected batches present in distributor warehouses have been secured, according to the establishment, with efforts to withdraw any remaining products from the market, both online and offline.

In response to the recall, Nestlé has also implemented user-friendly digital tools to help UAE consumers easily verify product batches and initiate refund or replacement requests.

Previously, the UAE had recalled batches of the NAN Comfort 1, NAN OPTIPRO 1, NAN SUPREME PRO 1, 2, 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2, 3, and Alfamino.

The additional recall follows shortly after the UAE had collected samples of Nestlé-branded baby formula products for quality analysis.
